His celebration started on Friday with a few notes around the house with little surprises. He had to work that day so Nelia and I spent the afternoon wrapping and making presents, going grocery shopping, and decorating the house. He got home around 6pm and was greeted by a decorated dining room with streamers. He opened his cards and gifts, one of which was a picture that Nelia colored all by herself that I framed:) Then we put 31 candles on his Baskin Robbins ice cream cake and sang 'Happy Birthday.' Nelia went to bed and then I started dinner - halibut with an apple and bacon risotto. The risotto took forever to make, but it turned out delicious!!! We normally eat dinner as a family, but it was nice to eat together, just the two of us.
The next morning my mother and father in-law came over to babysit Nelia so Patrick and I could continue his birthday celebration. We headed out early to Mt. Rainier to go on a hike to Summit Lake. The hike was about 5 miles, the sun was shining, and it was just a really nice day. Patrick was able to do some fishing and caught 7 trout in about an hour!!! That definitely made his day:) I was able to read two of my Us Weeklys and take a little nap in the sunshine:) After the hike we had sushi and then headed home.
Isn't it beautiful??!!
My handsome hubby:)

I love the orange on the trout:)
It felt like we could touch the mountain - it was so close to us!
